Micromax had in the beginning of the year revealed its plans to launch as many as 30 handsets this year alone. Looks like the company is coming good on the promise as today it has launched the Canvas Music A88. The new member in the Canvas series has been introduced in association with JBL that is known for its audio products worldwide, and thus comes with a free JBL Tempo headset. The music oriented phone will be available in the market from tomorrow for Rs 8,499.
On the specifications front, the smartphone features a 4.5-inch touchscreen instead of the 5-inch one seen in the other Canvas phones. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, carries a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz and comes with an expandable storage capacity of up to 32GB. There is a 1,800-mAh battery which promises a talk time of 5 hours. The rear of the phone sports a 5.0-megapixel camera with flash and the front has a 0.3-megapixel camera. Considering that it is targeted at the music enthusiasts, Micromax is claiming to offer unlimited songs downloads for free via the MLive! application.
The phone will compete against the likes of the Xolo A700 and Karbonn A21 which are also available with dual-core processors, 4.5-inch displays and other similar features in this price bracket.
