Micromax has launched the X259 phone in India for Rs 2,499, which features a Solar back panel. Through the Solar panel, the X259 automatically gets charged through solar power when the back panel is exposed to sunlight.

Other features of the device include, a 2.4-inch QVGA display with a resolution of 240×320 pixels, a 1000 mAh battery which gets charged via the solar panel, Dual-Sim capabilities and dual-stand by mode. Additionally, the device also features Bluetooth connectivity for sharing images, music and videos.

While the concept of a green phone powered by solar technology seems interesting, but it remains to be seen how good a battery back up the end user will get. Plus, one should not strike out overheating issues as well, but if it works it could turn out to be a popular concept.
