Micromax is slated to launch a sub-Rs 4,000 Android smartphone called the Smarty A25. Of late the company has been releasing products at a blistering speed and now we have information regarding the new device.

The Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone is slated for release later this week. It will feature a 1GHz processor, a 2.8-inch capacitive display with a resolution of 240×320 pixels, 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM, 1.3-megapixel camera, 120 MB of internal memory, microSD card support for up to 32GB of memory, a 1,280 mAh battery and dual-SIM capabilities.

Considering it packs a 1GHz processor it is quite astounding that it will get a price tag below Rs 4,000, but it is worth noting that it will only run on 2G networks and will not support 3G. In all probability, Micromax is going for a lower-rung chipset vendor rather than MediaTek or Qualcomm.
