Microsoft has released a new app named as the Office Remote, which is essentially meant for letting a user control PowerPoint, Excel and Word presentations remotely via their Windows Phone 8 handsets. The app has been released in collaboration with Microsoft Research and Microsoft Office engineering teams.
Talking about the functions of the app, it will allow a user to operate and control any of the Word, PowerPoint or Excel files presented on-screen through their phone from anywhere in the meeting room via Bluetooth. Besides this, the app can also be used to navigate between Excel worksheets and graphs, or for scrolling through as well as quickly jumping to a specific section in a Word document.
To run this app, a user will require to download Office 2013 (all versions except Office 2013 RT), and a small software add-in on PC. Also, the app will only function with a Bluetooth-enabled PC.
