Few days after Microsoft’s announcement to bring major updates for its Calendar and other two apps for Windows 8, it has now revamped the calendar for Outlook.com with a new design and user interface, along with improved performance. The update applies to Outlook on web as well as integrates with apps across mobile and tablets.
This update features a new look and design of Outlook.com and optimizes calendar notes, events, appointments and content on Chrome. The calender look more clean and are easy to access as Microsoft has now eased down the navigating through calendar and accessing information from calendar. Other activities like adding and editing events or tasks can be done with a single click or simple drag and drop across the calendar. Also, the new calendar remains consistent in looks across inbox, address book and SkyDrive, and allow users to access all related calendar activities at one place.
The calendar in Outlook.com integrates with services like Skype, LinkedIn, and Facebook and adds birthday dates and other updates to the calendar automatically from these services. It will also display weather forecasts and holiday updates for some regions. This apart, users may also import calendars or subscribe to public calendars from other services including importing a Google calendar into Outlook Calendar by clicking the Import link in the header.
Microsoft has started rolling out the update from today and will be reaching all Outlook.com users by this weekend.
