Moto E4 Plus vs Moto E4: What's different?

Confused between the Moto E4 and the Moto E4 Plus? Here's how they differ.


Motorola announced the Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus in India today. As the names suggest, the Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus both come with some similarities. The Moto E4 Plus is the larger of the two, and is set to go on sale tonight exclusively via Flipkart. The Moto E4 too will be going on sale today, albeit via offline channels. We pit the two devices against each other to help you understand the differences between the two.

Design and display: In terms of design, there’s not much of a difference between Motorola Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus. Both the smartphones come with a metal body with the oval home button below the display. The antenna bands run through on the rear panel. The circular camera setup with the LED flash also rests on the back. The batwing Moto logo is placed beneath the camera. As you can see in the above image, there’s a small difference in the back panel , which help you identify which is which.

Coming to the display, the Moto E4 comes with a 5-inch HD (720p) display, whereas the Moto E4 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch HD (720p) display. Processor, RAM, Storage: Coming to the hardware, both the smartphones are powered by a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.3GHz. Where the Moto E4 comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage, the Moto E4 Plus comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Both devices also offer the option to expand the storage up to 128GB using a microSD card.

Camera: Being the larger device, Moto E4 Plus comes with a larger sensor. The smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash. Other features include f/2.0 aperture, auto-focus and recording videos in 720p @30fps. The front camera is 5-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture. Moto E4 comes with an 8-megapixel rear sensor with f/2.2 aperture and flash. The front camera is the same 5-megapixel sensor. Both the smartphones come with front-facing flash for selfies.

Battery, Connectivity and OS: In the battery department, Moto E4 comes with a 2,800mAh battery, but the Moto E4 Plus takes the cake with a massive 5,000mAh battery under the hood.

Both devices come with a fingerprint sensor embedded into the physical button up front, and also feature water-repellent nano coating. Connectivity options on both devices include dual-SIM card slots, 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus both run on Android Nougat OS out-of-the-box.

Pricing and availability: The Moto E4 is priced at Rs 8,999 and it is going on sale today via offline retailers across the country. The Moto E4 Plus, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 9,999.
