Lenovo-owned Motorola is working on a number of devices as part of its 2018 product lineup. The leaks so far reveal the company is working on new Moto G6 and Moto E5 series and upgrades to its flagship modular Moto Z series.
The upcoming Moto G6 and Moto E5 series have already leaked in the form of renders, and it looks like these devices might become official soon. The Moto G6 series including the Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 Play have received network certification in Thailand and Indonesia, while the Moto E5 and Moto E5 Play have been certified in Indonesia. The certification indicates that these new phones will initially release in Asia.
The Moto G6 Plus will be the premium model in the Moto G6 series, and it is said to feature a 5.93-inch display with Full HD+ resolution of 2160×1080 pixels, and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is expected to have 6GB RAM, and will be powered by a Snapdragon 630 SoC. It will feature a dual rear camera system with a combination of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. It will also sport a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
The Moto G6, on the other hand, is likely to ditch the all-metal unibody design seen on its predecessor, and switch to metal and glass sandwich design. The Moto G6 will feature a smaller 5.7-inch Full HD+ display, and 18:9 aspect ratio. It will be offered in two storage options with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. The Moto G6 will use the less powerful Snapdragon 450 SoC based on 14nm process, and will share the dual rear camera system and the selfie camera available on G6 Plus.
Leaked renders reveal that Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus will feature front-mounted fingerprint sensor as opposed to rear mounted sensors found on most smartphones with thin bezel design. The Moto G6 is said to pack a 3,000mAh battery while G6 Plus gets a larger 3,200mAh battery.
Moto G6 Play will be the entry-level device with 5.7-inch HD+ display, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a massive 4,000mAh battery. The Moto G6 series is said to arrive in black, silver and rose gold colors while the G6 Plus is expected to become available in deep indigo, nimbus and dark lake colors. Motorola might price Moto G6 at $240 (around Rs 15,400) and the Moto G6 Plus at $330 (around Rs 21,000).
Moto E5 and Moto E5 Play are expected to be entry-level offerings, and will most likely retain the 16:9 aspect ratio display. They will be priced lower than the Moto G6 series.
