MWC 2014 Live: Microsoft reveals Xolo, Karbonn and Lava as new Windows Phone hardware partners

This could turn out to be huge year for Microsoft. After announcing an update for Windows 8.1 and the imminent debut of Facebook Messenger on the Windows Phone platform, The Redmond-based company also unveiled a host of new hardware partners who will manufacture smartphones running on the company’s OS. 

Saying how it is “open to business”, on the global scale it has tied up with the likes of LG, Huawei, Lenovo and ZTE in addition to the likes of HTC, Nokia, Samsung and Longcheer. In India, it has partnered with Xolo, Lava and Karbonn.

The company also mentioned that Windows Phones will soon support Windows Phone will soon support the Snapdragon 200, Snapdragon 400, and the Snapdragon 400 LTE. The company has also revealed that we could soon see Windows Phones with dual-SIM compatibility.

    Hopefully we will see action from the OEM’s this time. The last time we say little to no action from the OEM announced. All putting their energy into Android.

    Now since OEM’s Android phones share the same specs as Windows Phone’s Base Design, I’m hoping they don’t find it a resource drain to just slap WP onto their phones.
