Splinter Cell has taken a long hiatus since its last game, Splinter Cell: Blacklist that was launched way back in 2013. And now, a Reddit user has come across the listing for a new Splinter Cell game on Amazon Canada’s website.
Amazon Canada has listed a game simply titled Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 2018, along with the name of the publisher Ubisoft, and a “Currently unavailable” status. There is no release date, product description, or the platforms, and the product image is blank as well.
At the time of filing this story, this listing has been taken down, and it could very well have been a mistake on Amazon’s part. That said, it is not highly improbable for an e-commerce site to get a hint about a new game being in the pipeline. Previously too e-commerce websites have leaked games way ahead of publishers. Like the time Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was leaked GameStop.
Besides there have been previous reports that Ubisoft has a Splinter Cell game in the works. Michael Ironside, who plays the character of Sam Fisher from the series Splinter Cell, was at Ubisoft in 2016, and had reported that work on a new Splinter Cell was on. This timing would ideally mean that we can expect that Splinter Cell game this year.
Also during E3 2017, Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat hinted that the company was looking into the possibility of reviving the Splinter Cell series. A Splinter Cell release this year would make sense for Ubisoft as it doesn’t have big titles scheduled this year with it giving a year’s gap to the Assassin’s Creed series.
With E3 2018 coming up in a few months, we could be seeing some details about a new Splinter Cell game from Ubisoft, and a pre-order listing on Amazon. Though we suppose the name of the game would be different from just Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 2018.
