Past Mario 64s and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Times, one of the most recognizable games on the Nintendo 64 was 1080° Snowboarding. It also had a sequence called 1080° Avalanche that came on the GameCube, which became quite popular as well. However, ever since the sequel, we didn’t hear much about the two. Until now.

From what it seems, Nintendo may just be working on 1080° Snowboarding once again, considering the company has filed a trademark for something called 1080° TenEighty. This was first reported by PixelPar.

What is not clear is what this trademark is for. It, of course, could be a new game in the franchise. I can certainly see the appeal of playing a fun arcade snowboarding game on the move with the Nintendo Switch, and it would certainly be a trip to see the franchise back with a new entry.

Nintendo Switch is the company’s most recent console, which has quickly gained a lot of popularity. Nintendo released Switch for select markets in March 2017 at a retail price of $300 is the US and it sells for about Rs 40,000 in India unofficially. According to a report that came late last year, Nintendo had sold 7.63 million units globally through the end of September.

At this pace, the Switch is poised to outsell the original Wii launched in 2006 in terms of volume. The sales numbers are astounding especially considering the fact that Nintendo faced some manufacturing and supply chain issues.
