No Office 2013 for Mac: Microsoft to update Office 2011 with SkyDrive & Office 365 integration
Microsoft released the Consumer Preview of Office 2013 yesterday for machines running Windows 7 and Windows 8, but Steve Ballmer & Co. forgot to talk about Office for Mac. Luckily though, TheNextWeb managed to get official confirmation from Microsoft in regard Office for Mac.
In the official statement issued to TheNextWeb, Microsoft will release an update for Office 2011 for Mac when Office 2013 is released in the market and the update would bring the SkyDrive integration and Office 365 support for Mac users as well. However, Microsoft is not planning to release brand new version of Office for Mac. The Office 365 Home Premium subscription will be integrated in Office 2011 for Mac.
While Microsoft has not officially mentioned a new version of Office for Mac, a PC World article talks about a new version, so maybe we could see a new refresh for Office perhaps next year. Microsoft normally rolls out updates for Office on the Mac a year after the Office refresh for Windows.

This contradicts what I heard from a Microsoft rep at O365 demo about a month ago. I’m sure he’s not in Ballmer’s inner circle though. The MS rep said that they were intending to release new office for Mac in sync with the windows version and continue that trend from here out.
