Earlier this month, Google started rolling out an OTA update for Pixel and select Nexus smartphones, which brings the April Android security patch. Within a couple of weeks, HMD Global started rolling out the April security patch for the Nokia 1, and the recently launched Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6 (2018) smartphones. Now, Nokia 2 has also started receiving new software update in India with April security patch. According to a report, the update is being rolled out in a phased manner, and particularly for TA-1011 model.
According to NokiaPowerUser, the OTA only includes latest security patch and bug fixes. If you own a Nokia 2, you can head over to Settings > About phone > and tap on Software updates. The changelog mentions that the update brings a critical fix for a security vulnerability that was found in Media framework that could enable attackers to remotely execute an arbitrary code within the privileged process.
When HMD Global launched the Android smartphones at MWC 2017, the company had promised that it will provide timely security updates, and two major software updates. So far, HMD Global has maintained its promise by offering monthly security updates on schedule, where other manufacturers fail to deliver even after three-months.
