HMD Global is all set to make the Nokia 6 (2018) official at an event in China today. However, ahead of the official announcement, Chinese retailer Suning has spilled the beans over the smartphone’s specifications, features, and leaked official press renders along with lifestyle images too.
Spotted by GSMArena, the listing also reveals the smartphone’s pricing. It will be offered in two color variants – black with orange accents, and white with red accents. According to the retailer, the base variant with 32GB storage will be sold at RMB 1,499 (approximately Rs 14,700), whereas the 64GB storage variant will be sold for RMB 1,699 (approximately Rs 16,600). As of now, there is no word on when the smartphone will be launched in other markets.
Nokia 6 (2018) design, specifications and features
There are a few key differentiators between last year’s Nokia 6 and the Nokia 6 (2018). To begin with, the refreshed smartphone loses the capacitive touch keys, and comes with on-screen Android navigation keys instead. Also, the fingerprint sensor has been moved to the back, just below the camera module.
While most manufacturers are now switching to 18:9 displays, Nokia 6 (2018) still comes with a 16:9 display. Unfortunately, the leak does not mention about the screen size or resolution, so we will have to wait until HMD Global makes the smartphone official.
Under the hood, you have a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. With 32GB or 64GB onboard storage options, there is also a microSD card slot for further expansion.
In the photography department, the smartphone comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera of aperture f/2.0 along with OZO audio recording feature. Up front is an 8-megapixel camera of aperture f/2.0 for selfies and video recording. The camera app also includes ‘Bothie’ feature that lets you click photos, record videos and go live on social networks using both the front and rear cameras.
Armed with a 3,000mAh battery, the smartphone comes with micro-USB port for charging and data transfer. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, 4G LTE with VoLTE support and dual-SIM card slots. In the software department, the Nokia 6 (2018) runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat, but it is expected to get Android 8.0 Oreo update in the coming weeks.
