After a China launch, HMD Global’s Nokia 7 could be gearing up for the global market. According to a new report, the Finnish company is said to be planning on launching the device in global markets sometime in early 2018.
Just like the Nokia 6 before it, the Nokia 7 too will soon be debuting in the global markets after being exclusive to China. The global variant of the Nokia 7 will be identified by the model number TA-1041. In China, the Nokia 7 is available in two variants – the base variant is priced at RMB 2,499 (approximately Rs 24,600), while the top variant is priced at RMB 2,699 (approximately Rs 26,500).
What remains to be seen though is whether the Nokia 7 makes it to India. Right after the Nokia 2 launch last month, HMD Global’s Chief Marketing Officer, Pekka Rantala was quoted as saying, “Nokia 7 is designed for Chinese consumers, so currently we’ve no plans to bring it to India.”
There’s no word on an exact date of launch, but if recent rumors are to be believed, HMD Global is set to host an international event on January 19. All rumors however point to the unveiling of the flagship Nokia 9 smartphone. It will be interesting to see if the Nokia 7 global variant does make its presence felt at this event.
Speaking of the Nokia 9, we have already come across quite a few rumors and leaks around the device. These have given us a fair idea of what to expect from the upcoming flagship smartphone. For starters, the smartphone is likely to come with a bezel-less display, a dual-camera setup, and more. As far as design is concerned, HMD Global is expected to opt for front and back curved glass, similar to what is seen on the Nokia 7.
As for specifications, the Nokia 9 is expected to come with a 5.5-inch QHD resolution display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC, and 6GB of RAM. Storage options available are likely to be 64GB and 128GB.
The rest of the rumored specifications include dual-camera setup at the back, fingerprint sensor, 3,250mAh battery with fast charging, and IP67 resistance for water and dust resistance. On the software front, the device is expected to run the latest Android Oreo out-of-the-box.
