Nokia has added a call and SMS blocking feature to its extras and info service app that will allow Windows Phone 8 users to filter out and blacklist numbers from which they don’t wish to receive calls and SMSes. This will be a small yet very useful feature addition especially for those who always wanted their WP8 running Lumia’s to offer one such call and messages-based filter. This feature will work only with the Lumia phones running Amber update and will be available from today onwards.
To use the feature, one can either block a number by long tapping on it and choosing the ‘block number’ option given on the screen, or can go to the settings menu and opt for ‘call and SMS filter’. One can also put the filter on and off to block or unblock any number, and can also create a Live Tile shortcut for this feature.
While this feature has been available on Android via a third party app or vendor customization, Apple is also bringing this feature in iOS 7, which will be available to users later this year.
