Nokia announces 202, 203 & 302 Asha handsets at the MWC

Apart from presenting to us the PureView 808 smartphone with a jaw-dropping 41.0MP shooter and a budget Windows Phone 610, Nokia has also showed some love for its very old darling, Series 40 platform and has announced the Asha 202, 203 and 302 based on it. Read on for more  details…Nokia’s Asha 202 and 203 phones sports the touch-and-type form factor with a 2.4-inch touch screen which the vendor feels is ideal for browsing, scrolling and opening applications. Both the models have similar specs and look alike except for the fact that the Asha 202 is a dual-SIM variant and features dual-SIM Easy Swap tech with dedicated SIM manager to personalize the phone and saves up to five SIM cards with their unique information. Both devices come with a 2.0MP camera, music player, FM radio, Nokia Browser, Bluetooth connectivity, and can handle memory cards up to 32GB. Estimated retail price for each is about EUR 60 (approximately Rs 4,000) excluding taxes and subsidies and both are expected to start shipping in Q2 this year.

The Asha 202 and 203 will be the first Series 40 devices to offer EA games, thanks to Nokia’s partnership with EA. As a part of a promotional scheme, popular titles such as Tetris, Need for Speed, The Run and Bejeweled will be available for a free download from the Nokia Store.

The Nokia Asha 302 is the vendor’s first Series 40 phone to support Mail for Exchange, giving people access to their emails, contacts and calendar on an exchange server. It rocks a QWERTY keyboard right beneath its 2.4-inch TFT display. It comes with pre-embedded social networking and IM Clients such as Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp and more. The Nokia Asha 302 is powered by a 1GHz processor and supports 3.5G data speeds. Other features include a 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, 128MB of internal memory and should offer up to 9 hours of talk-time. It is expected to hit retails stores anytime soon and should cost EUR 95 (around Rs 6,300).
