OnePlus 5T, the second flagship for the year from the Chinese smartphone maker, is receiving its second open beta update. At the launch of OnePlus 5T, OnePlus had confirmed that its flagship smartphone will receive Android Oreo via an open beta update before the end of the year. Now the second update has started hitting the device with new stock apps and improved background app management.
According to the change log published by the company, the update brings major improvement to the file manager including improved experience while deleting a file and expanded file management function. The update also brings a new Clipboard application and support for new OnePlus Switch application that makes it easier to switch from any device to a OnePlus with backup and restore option.
OnePlus 5T Open Beta 2 brings caller phone number and location information in calling notification and the OnePlus launcher gets new application drawer design, auto-naming for folders and dynamic icon function for desktop clock icon.
The update also brings improved power consumption measurement and optimized management for applications that consume more power. With Android 8.0 Oreo, Google has already enhanced background app management and the OxygenOS open beta update adds intelligent background application management solution.
OnePlus has also released Open Beta 4 for OnePlus 5 where the launcher has been updated to version 2.3 with auto folder tagging, dynamic icon for clock and optimized notification dot feature. The update also brings system level improvements like an intelligent background application management solution, improved power consumption measurements, a new logic function to monitor apps consuming high power and general bug fixes.
The Open Beta 4 for OnePlus 5 also brings new applications, namely the OnePlus Switch app, which makes it easier to move information from your older device to a new OnePlus device. The update also adds Clipboard function where users can edit the copied text and then choose to Search, Translate or Share. OnePlus notes that some third-party camera applications may not work fully with this update.
The Open Beta 2 for OnePlus 5T should be rolling out to everyone over the coming dats and there is also an option to download it directly from OnePlus’ download page. The Open Beta 4 for the OnePlus 5 is also available in the form of download but users must remember to backup their files and documents before manually flashing the ROM to their device.
