Barely a day goes by where we don’t hear something new about the OnePlus 6. A combination of official teasers and leaks have already given us a fair idea of what to expect from the upcoming flagship smartphone. Adding to this list is another teaser from OnePlus related to the Alert Slider button.
OnePlus has put out a video teaser on Twitter with an accompanying caption – “Slide to focus with the Alert Slider.” As the caption is quite evident, the Alert Slider button on the OnePlus 6 is likely to let users tweak the focus of a shot when the camera app is open. We will have to wait till the official launch for more details on just how this button will function.

The Alert Slider was first introduced on the OnePlus 2 way back in 2015. Until now, the button has been used to toggle between the kind of notification alerts an user wants at any given time. So essentially, users could choose between three modes – ‘None’, ‘Priority’ and ‘All’. Chances are, once the new functionality is introduced on the OnePlus 6, it could arrive on older OnePlus smartphones via a software update.

The OnePlus 6 is widely believed to be launching sometime between the end of this month and the first week of May. This would mark an early release compared to the traditional June launch. The company has already confirmed that the upcoming smartphone will feature a full screen display with a notch at the top, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.
Other rumors have also hinted at a dual-camera setup at the back, a fingerprint sensor, face unlock, and 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone is also expected to run the latest Android Oreo out-of-the-box.
