OnePlus 6 gets a new update
OnePlus 6 went on sale for everyone globally yesterday and now the smartphone is receiving its first major update. The update brings security patch for the month of May alongside the ability to hide the notch. It also brings support for recording minute long slow-motion video at 480 frames per second.
The update is a gradual rollout and it brings other features like Quick Capture for portrait mode and an updated Gallery app. OnePlus is priced at Rs 34,999 for 6GB RAM variant and Rs 39,999 for the 8GB RAM variant.
Apple announces WWDC 2018 keynote
Apple has confirmed its WWDC 2018 keynote on June 4 at San Jose, California. The keynote is scheduled to begin at 10AM PT or 10.30PM IST on the first Monday of next month. Apple executives including CEO Tim Cook, Senior VP for Internet Services Eddy Cue and Senior VP for Software Engineering Craig Federighi, are expected to take stage at the event.
This year, Apple is not expected to bring major new features to iOS 12 and will instead focus on performance and stability. It will also announce updates to macOS, watchOS and tvOS. The big thing this year could be the enhancements coming to Siri including a new voice.
HTC U12+ flagship smartphone launched
HTC U12+ is now official. The successor to HTC U11+ comes with larger display and improvements to camera. The U12+ now has the second highest rated smartphone camera, according to DxOMark. It is powered by Snapdragon 845 coupled with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB storage.
The smartphone comes in ceramic black, translucent blue and flame red color and is available for pre-order in the US starting today. It is priced competitively with Galaxy S9+, Huawei P20 Pro and LG G7 ThinQ.

MobiiStar enters India with two budget smartphones
MobiiStar is the newest entrant in India’s burgeoning smartphone market. The company has launched two new smartphones – XQ Dual and CQ – in India. The Xq Dual is a selfie-centric smartphone priced at Rs 7,999 while CQ is a entry-level device priced at Rs 4,999.
Both the smartphones are exclusive to Flipkart and will go on sale at 12PM on May 30. Mobiistar claims to have 1,000 service centers across India.
YouTube Music starts rolling out today
YouTube Music, the new music streaming platform from Google, is rolling out starting today. The service is now available in the US, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. YouTube has promised to expand to other markets but there is no confirmation on date or launch time frame.
With YouTube Music, Google is trying to challenge Spotify with cleaner UI, full albums and easier settings to discover new artist and their music. It also comes with a recommendation engine that can suggest music based on user history, location, or the activity at hand. YouTube Music will be trying to court users away from Apple Music and Spotify, which have 50 million and 70 million paid subscribers.
