OnePlus 6 will be officially announced at an event in Mumbai today. The launch will follow the global launch in London last evening where the smartphone was unveiled for the first time. The India launch will see the company reveal the retail price of the smartphone alongside details of its retail availability.
OnePlus is the leading brand in India’s premium smartphone market and it has managed to do better than rivals Samsung and Apple in the segment. OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T have been the best-selling smartphones in the premium segment in 2017 and with OnePlus 6, the Chinese upstart has another best-seller in its hands. The most important thing to watch would be whether OnePlus retains the same price as its predecessor or introduces a price hike this time around.
OnePlus 6 was launched yesterday at a starting price of $529 (around Rs 36,000), which is a marginal hike from the launch price of OnePlus 5T. There is a strong likelihood that OnePlus 6 will be more expensive than its predecessor and the company will justify the price with the use of glass back and advanced camera supporting optical image stabilization. It is already known that OnePlus 6 will retail in Midnight Black, Mirror Black and Silk White colors. At India launch, the company shed more light on the limited edition avengers variant.
