Now that the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S9, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s, Huawei P20 Pro have launched, eyes now turn towards OnePlus. The OnePlus 6 has been on the rumor mills for quite sometime now. Earlier this week, the OnePlus 5T sold out in the US, which is a clear indication that the launch of OnePlus’ latest flagship device is not that far off. While we wait for the Chinese company to reveal a launch date, we might have our first proper look at the upcoming OnePlus 6.
The latest OnePlus 6 leak comes from one of the usual trusted sources, @evleaks. Leakster Evan Blass posted an image showing the supposed back panel of the OnePlus 6 on his Twitter account. From what we see in the leaked image, it is clear that the company is upping the style factor with its upcoming smartphone.

The OnePlus 6 leak shows a wooden textured back panel, with a squarish fingerprint sensor placed above the company’s logo. Placed above the sensor is what seems like a vertically aligned dual-camera module and LED flash. If this does turn out to be true, it would be a departure from OnePlus’ usual design language that sees the camera module placed at the top-left corner. The leaked image also shows the smartphone featuring a 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port and a speaker grille. You can also see a part of the volume rocker on the side.
Going by Blass’ track record, this could very well be our first real look at the OnePlus 6. What is clear from the leaked image is that the upcoming smartphone is not really a clone of the Oppo R15. And that’s a good thing. That said, it would be interesting to see what the front panel on the OnePlus 6 could look like. If we were to hazard a guess, it is likely to be the full-screen design with a notch that is being increasingly adopted by Android companies (including Oppo).
The OnePlus 6 has been spotted online a few times, and the leaks have given us a fair idea on what to expect. As far as specifications are concerned, the upcoming smartphone could feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with 2280×1080 pixels, and 19:9 aspect ratio.
Under the hood will no doubt be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM. There are also rumors about a top-end variant boasting 8GB of RAM, and 256GB internal storage. The smartphone was recently listed on Geekbench website having undergone benchmark tests. It managed to score 2,535 and 8,632 in single-core and multi-core tests.
For photography, the OnePlus 6 is rumored to feature a dual-camera setup at the back. This setup is likely to include a combination of 20-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors, both with f/1.7 aperture. For selfies, it could sport a 20-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Recently, there was a leak about the pricing as well. The report claimed that the OnePlus 6 will be the company’s most expensive smartphone yet. The top-end variant is rumored to be priced around $749 (Rs 48,700 approximately), which is way higher than what previous OnePlus devices have cost.
But with premium devices from Samsung and Apple pushing the benchmarks in price segments, you could still forgive OnePlus for breaching the Rs 40,000 mark. Needless to say, as with such rumors, we would advise you to take this information with the proverbial pinch of salt.
