OnePlus 6 is set to launch globally on May 16 and will be officially unveiled in other markets including India and China on May 17. While we still have to wait three weeks to see the final products, the leaks don’t seem to be ending anytime soon.
Yesterday, OnePlus confirmed that it will launch the OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Edition alongside the regular model. Now, a new leak claims to give us our first look yet at the working OnePlus flagship. OnePlus has already confirmed that it will follow in the footsteps of Apple and its sibling Oppo to adopt a notched display with the OnePlus 6. The leaked photo courtesy of iGyaan shows the smartphone enclosed in a case that hides the bottom chin and makes it look as if it will be an all-glass display.
However, we pretty much known that OnePlus 6 will be based on the design of Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition and will feature a small chin at the bottom. The leaked picture shows a computer in the background which confirms the photo was taken on April 23 but the smartphone itself does not reveal any official timestamp of the device, and the image doesn’t look too realistic either. If OnePlus just debuts a smartphone that looks exactly like the one in the case without any bezels then it would have an iPhone X killer for sure.
In the meantime, here is what we know for sure about the OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 6 will be a major departure from OnePlus 5T in terms of materials and engineering design. It will sport a glass back as opposed to all metal design seen on its predecessor. There are rumors indicating that OnePlus has switched to glass in order facilitate wireless charging feature.
At the front, it is expected to feature a large 6.2-inch display with a cut-out or notch that hides the front-facing camera, microphone and other sensors. It will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and expect it top all benchmarks among Android smartphones once it is official launched in major markets. The smartphone is expected to be offered with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and upto 256GB storage. There are also reports of major camera improvements coming to the smartphone and the dual camera setup will be vertically stacked like Galaxy S9+.
The OnePlus will also feature a repositioned alert slider that will double as the button to change focus in the camera app. With OnePlus 6, OnePlus is expected to officially certify its smartphone with an IPXX rating that will officially make it dust and water resistant. The smartphone is expected to be priced under Rs 40,000, like last year’s model when it goes on sale exclusively via Amazon India and Prime members will be able to buy it on May 21.
