The Oppo A83’s USP is its 18:9 aspect ratio edge-to-edge display. In China, the smartphone was launched with a price tag of RMB 1,399 (approximately Rs 13,800). While the company has yet to make an official announcement, Gadgets360 reports that the A83 will be available in India for Rs 13,990. This falls in line with a previous rumor as well. The smartphone is expected to be available in Champagne and Black colors.
Another highlight of the Oppo A83 is its security feature. Inspired by the Apple iPhone X, Oppo has dropped the fingerprint sensor on the A83 smartphone. Instead, there is a Face Unlock feature. According to Oppo, this feature tracks 128 unique feature points of the user’s face, and can unlock the smartphone within 0.18 seconds.
Oppo A83 specifications, features
As far as specifications are concerned, the Oppo A83 flaunts a 5.7-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) LCD display. It is powered by a 2.5GHz MediaTek 6763T octa-core SoC, and there will be 32GB expandable storage on offer. While the Chinese variant was launched with 4GB of RAM, reports claim that the Indian variant will come with 3GB of RAM.
For photography, the Oppo A83 is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies, video calling and Face Unlock feature. Making sure everything ticks is a 3,090mAh battery, but it misses out on fast charging capabilities.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G with VoLTE support, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 7.1 Nougat OS with Color OS 3.2 custom skin on top.
