Oppo has charmed the smartphone world with its most recent flagship, the Find X that touts great design and beauty. But the smartphone has failed to impress the tough guy of the tech world Zack Nelson whose YouTube channel goes by the name JerryRigEverything. The Oppo Find X passed almost all the rigor Zack could put it through until it finally gave in at the bend test.

The video starts off with Zack unboxing the Oppo Find X, firing it up and giving the smartphone a go. He explains about the look and feel of the phone and the pop-up camera that he felt was not solid enough. He tries to take out the camera segment that does come out when forced but goes back down almost instantly. It’s the other way round when the camera is turned on.

Zack then proceeds with the scratch test with his tools, and like most other flagship smartphones, the Oppo Find X only has slight scratches on the screen at a level six and a deeper groove at a level seven. The smartphone sports Gorilla Glass 5 and has a glass back as well that does not scratch with Zack’s razor. The pop up camera has glass covering the cameras on the front and the back. The frame and buttons of the device are made of metal which can be scratched with a razor.

Zack explains that moving parts mean that the phone is not waterproof though the SIM card tray does has a rubber lining for protection. On to the burn test, the Amoled screen of the Oppo Find X takes the flame for about 14 seconds, after which is develops a white burnt spot. The pixels on this spot does not recover unlike an LCD display, which is pretty regular for an Amoled screen.

And finally on to the bend test, the Oppo Find X gives away under the pressure puts on it using his fingers. First the back glass of the phone cracks, followed by the front panel, and the display is disfigured beyond repair. Though the phone’s touchscreen seemed to be working, and so was the camera portion at the top. But essentially the phone was destroyed.

Zack went ahead and removed the back glass, which revealed the mechanism of the camera segment and it seemed flimsy. It was similar to the hydraulic mechanism used in Vivo Nex, only difference being that it was being used here to lift a much heavier piece of the phone, which made it flimsy. According to Zack, the phone did not have enough metal to stop the force of the bend which produced such disastrous results. He ended by saying that Oppo may want to look towards durability a bit more next time.
