As we have been expecting for sometime now, Oppo has today launched its latest flagship smartphone. At an event here in Paris, the company launched the Find X, which also marks the return of Oppo’s flagship Find series.
Oppo has used its Find series to launch products that are innovative, and push the boundaries of what is possible. The Find X doesn’t disappoint. The innovations start right from the design front, where the device boasts a screen-to-body ratio of a whopping 93.8 percent. With this, the Find X becomes a truly bezel-less smartphone, something that was so far associated with the recently launched Vivo NEX. The device sports a curved body with glass on both sides, which are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
As we saw earlier today, Oppo has achieved this bezel-less display by opting for a slider mechanism. Essentially, the top of the phone has a motorized pop-up module, which houses both the front and back cameras. The company says that this motorized apparatus can open or close in just half a second. You can slide up the module while clicking photos or when unlocking the device. Speaking of which, Oppo has opted against using a fingerprint sensor – physical or in-display. Instead, the sliding part of the device features a whole bunch of sensors to allow for a Face Unlock system not unlike the Apple iPhone X.

Oppo Find X features, specifications
Apart from the design, the Oppo Find X is filled to the brim with top-of-the-line specifications and features. It flaunts a 6.4-inch OLED screen that runs at full HD+ (2340×1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM. There are two storage variants to choose from – 256GB and 512GB.
For photography, there is a dual-camera setup at the back that includes a 16-megapixel f/2.0 primary sensor, and a 20-megapixel f/2.2 secondary sensor. The setup is Artificial Intelligence (AI) assisted. The AI assists while clicking portrait photos, and also helps in automatic screen recognition. The cameras also have the ability to add fun AR stickers to your photos. Up front is AI-assisted 25-megapixel selfie camera. The AI lets the camera automatically add beautification effects to your selfies, and there is also support for 3D emojis similar to what you find on the iPhone X.
Making sure everything ticks is a 3,730mAh battery with support for Super VOOC charging technology. This basically offers up to two hours of talktime with just five minutes of charging. Oppo also says that the battery can be charged from zero-100 percent in just 35 minutes.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, and support for global LTE bands. There is no 3.5mm audio jack, and instead you only get a USB Type-C port. On the software front, the Find X runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box wrapped under Oppo’s Color OS 5.1 UI.
Oppo Find X pricing, availability
Find X is priced at 999 Euros (Rs 78,500 approximately). This price tag puts the new smartphone up against traditional top-tier companies like Samsung, LG, and HTC to name a few. In fact, it costs more than the Galaxy S9+, the Galaxy Note 8 and Huawei P20 Pro as well.
Buyers will be able to choose from two color options – Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue. Oppo India recently teased the launch of the Find X smartphone. This could be a hint at an imminent launch of the flagship device in our country.
