Lately, there’s been quite a bit of buzz around the upcoming Oppo Find X smartphone. And rightly so. For one, the Chinese company’s flagship series is making a comeback after a few years. Secondly, the rumors and leaks hint at a pretty high-end device with some innovative design and features. With a few days for the launch, here’s quick roundup of everything we know so far about the Oppo Find X. Rest assured we will keep updating this space as and when we come across new information.
Oppo Find X Design
The recently launched Vivo NEX pushed the boundaries of what a full-screen Android smartphone can offer. Based on various rumors, Oppo is set to match its rival, or even surpass it. Leaked images have confirmed that the Find X will feature a full-screen display with curved edges similar to Samsung’s flagship devices. It however remains to be seen if the smartphone will sport the notch or be truly full-screen.
Another leaked image shows off quite an interesting design aspect of the Find X. This image showed a strip of blue LED light at the bottom of the device. Reports suggest this blue LED strip could pulsate when you get a notification.
Oppo Find X Display
Oppo’s Find 7 smartphone launched back in 2014 flaunted a QHD resolution display. Hence, it is safe to assume Oppo bettering it with the upcoming Find X. Leaks have hinted a 6.4-inch AMOLED display running at full HD+ (2340×1080 pixels) resolution. So far, there is no word on the screen’s aspect ratio, but some reports have hinted at 19:9.
The leaked images we have come across so far do not show a fingerprint sensor placed on the back panel. This has led to rumors about there being an in-display fingerprint sensor, similar to what Vivo offers on its X21 smartphone.
Oppo Find X Performance
Needless to say, the Find X will be a powerhouse. Under the hood is expected to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at 2.8GHz. With flagship devices from companies like Xiaomi and OnePlus featuring up to 8GB of RAM, don’t expect anything different from Oppo. For storage, buyers will no doubt be able to choose from 128GB and 256GB variants.
Making sure everything ticks is expected to be a 3,730mAh battery. This will no doubt be backed by fast charging capabilities. It will be interesting to see if Oppo goes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 or opt for its own Super VOOC flash charging technology.
Oppo Find X Cameras
The Find X’s photographic chops will reportedly be its USP. There have been reports hinting at a triple-camera setup à la Huawei P20 Pro. This setup will include 20-megapixel and 5-megapixel snappers.
But the talking point will be the camera’s capability of 5x lossless zoom. Oppo had first showcase this camera technology at MWC 2017. For selfie lovers, there’s expected to be a 25-megapixel front camera with some manner of AI capabilities.
Oppo Find X Software
On the software front, the Find X is expected to run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box wrapped under Oppo’s ColorOS 5.1. A recent update to the UI introduced gesture support, which will come handy on a full-screen device.
Oppo Find X launch dates
As mentioned, Oppo will be unveiling the Find X for the global market at an event in Paris on June 19. The flagship smartphone is also expected to soon come to India. Recently, Oppo India teased the launch of the smartphone on its social media channels. There is however no official word on a launch date.
