It’s been widely rumored that Oppo is working on its next R-series smartphones, dubbed R15 and R15 Plus. Now, Oppo has started teasing an event in China on March 31, where it is expected to launch these smartphones.

The event in China on March 31 will be livestreamed for people around the world, Gizmochina reports. As per the teaser, the event is set to kick off at 8:00PM China time, which is 5:30PM IST. The event will also have local actor Zhang Yishan as the brand ambassador.

The Oppo R15 and the R15 Plus have both been on the rumor mills quite often in the weeks leading up to the launch event. Both devices are expected to feature full-screen displays with a notch at the top that is not a lot unlike what is seen on the Apple iPhone X. The two variants are expected to feature the same display and design, with minor changes in battery capacity and the chipsets.

Oppo R15, R15 Plus specifications, features

Based on the leaks we have come across so far, the smartphones are expected to flaunt a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2880×1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Under the hood, the R15 is expected to feature MediaTek’s Helio P60 SoC, while the Plus variant is expected to feature a Snapdragon 660 SoC. The chipsets will be paired with 6GB of RAM.

There will be 128GB onboard storage on offer, but there is no word on whether there will be an option for expansion. The R15 will be backed by a 3,450mAh battery, while the R15 Plus will be backed by a 3,400mAh battery. Both will support Oppo’s VOOC super-fast charging technology.

For photography, the smartphones will feature a dual-camera setup that includes a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The camera will rely on Sony’s IMX519 sensor. The teasers shared by Oppo hint a larger 1/2.6″ and 1.22-micron pixels. Up front, both smartphones will continue focusing on selfie-centric audience with a 20-megapixel front camera.

There is currently no word on pricing, but that is expected to be revealed on March 31. In the meantime, Oppo is gearing up for a launch event in India on March 26 where it will be launching its F7 smartphone.
