Earlier this year in March, Oppo launched the R15 and R15 dream edition in China, and now, just four months later, the company has started teasing their successors. In an Oppo-sponsored event, the company officially teased the Oppo R17, which could mean that the launch is imminent.
The image on Weibo was uploaded by Kumamoto Technology, it was spotted and reported by PlayfulDroid. Now, the alleged Oppo R17 was spotted (via 91Mobiles) on TENAA, revealing the design and some specifications of the smartphone. The listing reveals model numbers PBCM00 and PBCT00. And as we can see in the photos, there are volume buttons on the left and power / sleep button on the right.
It gets interesting at the back as you can see the two-tone gradient color finish, with black on the top, and blue along the bottom. On the top left, you can see the dual camera modules and LED flash, whereas a 3.5mm socket can be seen at the bottom. Another thing to notice is that there is no physical fingerprint sensor, and it may come with face recognition tech.
In terms of specifications, the smartphone comes with a 6.3-inch display, but there is no word on the resolution or details on whether or not it sports a notch. To keep things ticking, the alleged Oppo R17 is armed with a 3,415mAh battery. Sadly, nothing else is known about the smartphone. But it is tipped to be the first smartphone to come with a mammoth 10GB of RAM.
Going by the history, the OnePlus 6 featured a design similar to the Oppo R15. And if it has to be repeated, the Oppo R17 with gradient back finish, and 10GB of RAM could be the blueprint for the OnePlus 6 successor, the OnePlus 6T. Whether or not this turns out to be true only time will tell. Till then, stay tuned.
