Realme 1, the first smartphone from Oppo’s sub-brand Realme, is now official. This is the first time the company is catering exclusively to online-centric customers with a dedicated brand and that reflects in the aggressive pricing of its smartphone. With Realme, Oppo is bringing some of the features and design elements are seen on its premium device down to a more accessible price segment.
The Realme 1 has been launched exclusively on Amazon India and will go on its first sale at 12:00PM on May 25. With Realme, Oppo is clearly challenging the likes of Xiaomi, Honor and Asus in the online retail segment. At the launch event, Madhav Seth, CEO of Realme Mobiles, told that Realme is positioned as premium mid-range smartphone brand and he also added that the brand has been created after hearing from consumers who shop online.
One of the clear differentiation between Realme 1 and other smartphones in this price band is the unique design. “Realme 1 is a combination of design and leading technology,” said Levi Li, Chief Product Officer of Realme. The Realme 1 features a textured back design with contour lines that seem to reflect the shape of diamond. The back is also made of 12-layer nano tech material, same as the one used for Oppo F7.
