As we get into August, the first of the major launches in India kicks off with the BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X. but apart from that, there is also news from OnePlus, Apple, Samsung, Infinix and Tata Docomo, to name a few. BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X launched
BlackBerry has launched its latest smartphones in India, the Evolve (Rs 24,990) and Evolve X (Rs 34,990). The phones offer an all-touch experience along with the typical Blackberry approach to software and security. The phones don’t come with a physical QWERTY keypad like the BlackBerry Key2 which was launched last month.
OnePlus 5 and 5T get OxygenOS Open Beta 15 and 13 respectively
OnePlus is now updating the software on its 2017 smartphones, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The current update is part of the OxygenOS open beta program, so it will only be available if you’re already on the Open Beta software path for either of these two phones.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 launched
August is a big month for Samsung, with the Galaxy Note 9 slated to launch next week. However, for now, Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab S4, with prices starting at $650 (approximately Rs 44,500) and comes with both Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + LTE models. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and runs on Android.
New Apple iPad Pro with thinner bezels and no Touch ID hinted
A new Apple iPad Pro could reportedly be in the works, that will have thinner bezels and no Touch ID. It will be similar to the Apple iPhone X, with an all-screen design, according to reports. The new tablet could launch in September alongside the new iPhone models.
Tata DoCoMo new Rs 98 prepaid plan
Tata DoCoMo has launched a new Rs 98 prepaid plan that gives users up to 39.2GB of data. The plan offers up to 1.4GB data per day for 28 days, on Tata DoCoMo’s 3G network. There are no voice calling or SMS benefits on the plan though, which will be chargeable through the user’s prepaid balance.
Infinix Smart 2 launched
Infinix, the brand of Chinese smartphone conglomerate Transsion Holdings, has launched a new affordable smartphone in India, the Infinix Smart 2. Pricing for the new phone starts at Rs 5,999, and the device also features face unlock, being one of the most affordable devices with the feature.
Samsung Galaxy J6 gets a price cut
The Samsung Galaxy J6 gets a price cut for both of its variants, with the price now starting at Rs 12,990 for the 3GB RAM variant (a drop of Rs 1,000) and Rs 14,990 for the 4GB RAM variant (a drop of Rs 1,500). The phone sports a 5.6-inch HD+ AMOLED display.
