Panasonic P51 smartphone launched in India for Rs 26,900, its first Android smartphone in India

Back in April, we were the first ones to report that Panasonic was planning to re-enter the smartphone market in India and launch its first smartphone in about a month. Last week, Panasonic started sending out media invites and right on cue, it has launched the P51, a 5-inch Android Jelly Bean running smartphone which will be available for Rs 26,900.

In terms of dimensions, the P51 is 144mmx75mm and is quite thin and light in weight at 8.5mm and 135gm respectively. Talking of specifications, the dual-SIM 3G-enabled P51 sports a 5-inch 720p IPS display protected by Asahi Dragon trail glass and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and 1GB of RAM.

Other features included on the phone are an 8-megapixel rear camera that can shoot 1080p vidoes, 1.3-megapixel camera at the front, 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card and a 2,500mAH battery that can last up to 14 hours on 3G. The phone will be available in white and black color variants.

On the software front, the P51 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, pre-loaded apps like WeChat, Open office and the phone also comes bundled with a magnetic flip cover and a stylus.

The P51 will be available next week onwards.

I have been considering buying a new phone with a better camera for quite a while now, so when I heard about the P51 by Panasonic, which is slated for release soon, I was quite stunned! The specifications for this phone have been blowing my mind, especially the Jellybean (Android) OS and the power-packed 8MP camera features like smile detection and multi-angle view. I can’t wait for this model to be released!!
