Pebble was one of the first commercial smartwatch makers that launched a series of smartwatches with an e-ink display, 50-meter water resistance and up to 7-days battery life. Pebble smartwatches quickly became popular among others. However, towards the end of 2016, fitness wearable maker Fitbit acquired Pebble, the company will stop software support starting June 30.

Once Fitbit shuts down all services, you won’t be able to use features such as text replies, emails, app store and voice recognition. For developers, it will be harder to build apps for the platform. If you own a Pebble smartwatch, and have been looking for a miracle, it could be your lucky day.

Pebble founder and former CEO Eric Migicovsky tweeted asking users to set up an account with Rebble.io. It is created by Pebble developers who aim to keep the platform alive. So, if you own a Pebble smartwatch and want to continue using it even after Fitbit permanently unplugs Pebble services, go ahead and signup for Rebble.io.

But you’ll need to do this before June 30. Failing to do so, you will lose the ability to be verified. Not everything is prepared for the June 30 deadline, Rebble said on its blog. However, users can install apps, continue getting notifications and Pebble Health will continue to function.

A lot of Pebble functionality will keep working regardless of what we manage to put together. Your apps will still be installed, your notifications will still come through, and Pebble Health will still be entirely functional. Pebble apps and watchfaces will still work fine, too, except for those that create timeline pins,” Katharine Berry, wrote on Rebble blog.
