PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ surpasses Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ as most watched YouTube video ever
South Korean sensation PSY has surpassed Justin Bieber as the most watched YouTube video of all time. PSY’s viral hit ‘Gangnam Style’ has overtaken Bieber’s ‘Baby’ with 805 million lifetime views against 803 million. What’s interesting to note here is that it took Gangnam Style just about four months while Baby has been around since February of 2010.
Bieber surpassed Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ as the most watched video in July of 2010 and still gets between 350,000-500,000 views every day. In contrast, Gangnam Style is being watched 7-10 million times a day!
YouTube started getting hits for Gangnam Style from South Korea in late-July from where it started getting picked in English-speaking countries. It hit its peak in the US in August and peaked in North America and Brazil in September. It hit its peak in Europe and India only in October.
YouTube claims that PSY and Gangnam Style have been the top rising searches on the site and they are coming from across the globe. Considering it is not even an English music video, we will be seeing millions of people galloping around trying to mimic PSY’s horse-riding move. If by any chance you have been living under a rock and haven’t seen the video, it ain’t too late, yet! (Seriously?)
