Reliance Jio is shying away from discounts and cashback offers with its tariff plan. The telecom service provider has been offering multiple cashback offers since it commenced paid services in April last year. Now it has announced a new offer called Jio Football Offer with a cashback of up to Rs 2,200.
The new Jio Football offer is available to all Jio customers including existing and new customers who activate their new 4G smartphone with Jio SIM and make the mandatory first recharge. The telecom service provider has shared a list of eligible phones for this offer.
In terms of the offer, Reliance Jio users will get instant cashback of Rs 2,200 with the newly launched Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones. The cashback will be available in the form of 44 vouchers with each valued at Rs 50. The vouchers will be credited directly to MyJio app after first recharge of Rs 198 or Rs 299 plan. The vouchers can be redeemed against subsequent recharges of a similar amount.
The list of applicable devices include all the smartphones launched by the company under its LYF brand. It also includes Galaxy On 8, Galaxy On 5 Pro, Galaxy On 7 Pro, Galaxy On Max, Galaxy On Nxt and Galaxy J3 2016 from Samsung. Other eligible devices include Honor 9i, Honor 7X, Honor 9 Lite, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, BlackBerry KeyOne, LG V30+ and smartphones from brands like Celkon, Zen, iVoomi, Swipe, Jivi, Panasonic, Alcatel and 10.or.
Reliance Jio is currently the fourth largest telecom service provider in the country with over 160 million active subscribers. The service provider recently turned profitable and has been growing faster than its rivals Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular.
Reliance Jio’s success is mainly driven by the fact that its customers are making recharges of Rs 399 or above once every three months in order to avail super fast data speeds and free access to unlimited data. During recent earnings call, Reliance Jio announced that the business has turned profitable within a year of its operations and it is strongly supported by rising average revenue per user and decline in interconnection charges.
With the new offer, Reliance Jio is trying to ensure that more of its existing subscribers make recharge on their mobile numbers. Early in the day, Reliance Jio started selling its JioPhone on Amazon India and is said to be planning to launch its home broadband service by the end of March.
