Reliance Jio has disrupted the telecom sector with unlimited free outgoing calls, and unlimited data. Incumbent telcos have been trying to match Jio’s offering, but always fell short in some way or the other. In fact, Reliance Jio and BSNL are the only operators that offer virtually unlimited calls and data on some of their plans. Now, Bharti Airtel is all set to give them a fierce competition.
When Reliance Jio launched its services in India, it offered unlimited data with daily limited of 1GB or 2GB depending on the plan you choose. After the daily limit is exhausted, the speed would be throttled to 128Kbps till midnight. Jio then revised its FUP, and all plans now offer a throttled speed of 64Kbps after the daily limit is hit.
Bharti Airtel, on the other hand, has now revised its Fair Usage Policy (FUP) to offer more benefits to the users, Telecom Talk reports. All prepaid plans above Rs 199, will now offer “Unlimited Data,” which means once the daily limit is hit, the speed will be throttled to 128Kbps. Well, it’s not fast enough for streaming videos or downloading, but its ideal for WhatsApp messages.

The “Unlimited Data” will be applicable on all Airtel prepaid plans such as – 199, Rs 249, Rs 349, Rs 399, Rs 448, Rs 499, Rs 509. And with the competition getting intense, we do expect other telcos such as Idea Cellular and Vodafone to introduce similar plans.
