Airtel is not done playing catch up with Reliance Jio, and has now revamped its Rs 399 and Rs 199 data plans. Apart from updating its existing plans, the largest telecom operator has also announced new data plans for its prepaid customers to stay competitive against Jio’s offerings.

Bharti Airtel has announced Rs 199 plan with 28 days validity, which offers 1.4GB 3G/4G data per day. With Rs 349 data plan, Airtel customers get 2.5GB of 3G/4GB data per day for 28 days. The Rs 399 plan offers 1GB of 3G/4G data per day, and has a validity of 70 days. The company has also announced new Rs 448 plan, which has a validity of 82 days, and offers 1.4GB 3G/4G data per day. Airtel has also revised its Rs 509 data plan to give 1.4GB 3G/4G data per day for 90 days as opposed to 1GB data per day offered under this plan.

All the above mentioned plans from Airtel also offer 100 local or national SMS per day along with free local and STD calls. The plan also gives free incoming and outgoing calls on roaming.

The move can be seen as an attempt by Bharti Airtel to counter Reliance Jio’s new Happy New Year 2018 offer announced early this month. However, it must be noted that Jio offers more data and validity compared to Airtel. With tariff plan of Rs 198, Rs 398, Rs 448 and Rs 498, Reliance Jio offers 1.5GB 4G data per day with validity of 28 days, 70 days, 84 days and 91 days respectively.

Reliance Jio offers 1GB data per day with Rs 349, Rs 399 and Rs 449 tariff plan having validity of 70 days, 84 days and 91 days respectively. While Airtel’s revised plans are available for all its customers, Jio’s plans are only available to those subscribed to its its Prime membership.

Reliance Jio recently reported its first ever quarterly profit while Bharti Airtel reported loss in revenue due to reduction in interconnection usage charge. The fight between all these telcos over data tariff is not likely to stop anytime soon.
