The price vs data war is surely getting intense, and incumbent telecom operators are trying everything to compete with Reliance Jio. The state-run telecom operator, BSNL, recently launched Rs 39 prepaid plan that offers unlimited voice calls to the subscribers. Now, the telco has launched yet another prepaid plan to take on Reliance Jio’s Rs 98 plan. Priced at Rs 118, the prepaid plan offers unlimited voice calls for 28 days.
According to a report on telecom talk, the plan also offers 1GB 3G data, which is valid throughout the plan validity of 28 days. BSNL is also offering its subscribers with free PRBT tune (caller ring tones). After recharging with Rs 118 plan, the BSNL signature caller tune will automatically get activated for free. However, for choosing any other ringtone, users will be charged a nominal fee.
In comparison, Reliance Jio has a prepaid plan priced at Rs 98 which offers unlimited local and national voice calls, and 2GB 4G data, throughout the validity of 28 days. The plan also offers 300 local and national SMS, and complimentary subscription to Jio suite of apps.

BSNL is also expected to launch its 4G LTE services soon, and the telco has already started selling 4G compatible USIM across India for Rs 20. Recently, the telecom operator also introduced a new Rs 349 prepaid plan that offers unlimited voice calling, and 1GB daily data with a validity of 54 days. While BSNL’s offering looks interesting, it still can’t match the data benefits that are offered by Reliance Jio.
