Reliance Jio recently revised its prepaid and postpaid plans to offer more data or higher validity, depending on what subscribers choose. While the tweaks were made for the smartphone plans, the telecom operator has now refreshed the JioPhone plan as well. The Rs 153 plan now offers 1GB 4G daily data, which double of what used to be on offer before.
The validity of the plan remains the same, which is 28 days, TelecomTalk reports. Other benefits include unlimited local and national voice calls, 100 free SMS per day, and free subscription to Jio suite of apps, such as JioTV, JioMovies and JioMusic among others. Now, once the daily limit of 1GB is reached, the speed will be throttled to 64Kbps, and high-speed will be restored at 2:00AM.
JioPhone users can also choose from two sachet packs. The first one is priced at Rs 24, which comes with unlimited voice calls, 20 free SMS, access to Jio suite of apps and validity of two days. The other pack is priced at Rs 54, and includes the same benefits as unlimited voice calls, 70 free SMS, access to Jio suite of apps and validity of seven days. Both plans also offer 500MB daily high-speed data, after which speed will be throttled to 64Kbps.
Reliance JioPhone was introduced at the cheapest ‘smart feature phone’ that costs ‘effectively zero.’ Users have to pay a deposit of Rs 1,500 at the time of buying the JioPhone, and it is refundable after three-years of use.
Talking about specifications, the JioPhone comes with 2.4-inch QVGA display, and is powered by a Spreadtrum SoC, Mali-400 GPU and 512MB of RAM. Booting Kai OS, there is 4GB of onboard storage, and you also get a microSD card slot for further expansion. JioPhone is backed by a 2,000mAh battery, along with connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth and NFC for contactless payments using JioMoney wallet. Users can also buy an additional dongle that lets you connect your JioPhone with your television set to stream live TV and movies.
