Report: Foxconn employee says iPhone 5 ready for production, summer launch expected

According to a report by 9to5mac, the upcoming iPhone 5 is all geared up for production at the Foxconn manufacturing facilities in China. The website quotes an unnamed Foxconn employee who also revealed that the new iPhone 5 prototypes have dumped the rumored teardrop design and will feature displays larger than 4-inches. The prototypes have also dumped the iPhone4S/4 form factor as the test units are wider and longer, though it should be noted that neither of units are final. Apart from this the most interesting bit of information revealed by the report is that Apple is gearing up for a summer WWDC launch. Traditionally Apple has always unveiled a new version of the iPhone at WWDC, except for the original one in 2007 and the iPhone 4S last year as Apple was grappling with supply chain issues in the wake of the Japanese earthquake.
