Reverse-Parking cameras on cars to be mandatory in America from 2018

reverse-parking

Automotive safety goes stricter in the USA as a rule is imposed to have reverse-parking (backup) cameras mandatory on all cars from 2018.

The new rule means that all cars in America which weigh less than 4,500kg will have to get reverse parking cameras as part of their standard equipment. The camera will need to have a field of view of about 10-feet by 20-feet behind the vehicle.

While the rule makes so much sense, it took NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Association) a long time in forming it. According to the agency, the market has accepted these backup cameras and by the year 2018, about 73 percent of cars would have received them anyway. Apart from the company fitted versions, these reverse parking cameras are a popular aftermarket option among car drivers.
