RIM slashes prices across Blackberry smartphones [Update]

We are hearing from our sources that RIM has slashed prices across its BlackBerry smartphone range as much as 26 percent. The price cut has taken effect in India right now and we are told it could be a global price cut. RIM is expected to announce its quarterly results on Thursday and analysts are expecting RIM to miss its own targets.

RIM is also expected to launch, its new BlackBerry Curve 9220 and 9320 in India next month. We have reached out to RIM India for an official statement on the same and will update this post as soon as we hear from them.

UPDATE: RIM has confirmed the price cut to us, though these are applicable only in India. Read on for details.

Here are the new prices for BlackBerry handsets.

    I don’t understand, 9360 was 18990 on flipkart all along and i brought my 9360 10 days back from a local retailer for 18990. so how is this a price cut?

      Thanks for your comments, they relaly made my day! A year later, I am back to the iPhone os. I’m currently using my iPhone 3GS. Blackberries are not for me. Currently though I would have to say the best Blackberry is the 9700. It has 3G data as you were asking about. Rogers has this phone, so you should pressure them into giving it to you for free.
