Rumor has it: LG Optimus G2 will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p display

When Taiwanese smartphone maker, HTC announced the HTC Butterfly J in October it sort of made it a template on which all flagship devices in 2013 would be based on. Without a doubt the 5-inch diagonal display with an amazing resolution of 1920×1080 pixels is what will become standard in all smartphones that launch next year, be it Samsung, LG, Sony or any of the rest. Every flagship smartphone will be full HD according to Android Authority.

Korean website, Asian Economics states that LG’s 2013 flagship smartphone, LG Optimus G2 will feature a 5.5-nch 1080p full HD display. Previous reports stated that it would have a 5-inch full HD display panel but the latest report suggests that LG has increased the screen size. The panel in the LG Optimus G2 would have a 400 PPI in the 5.5 inch display.

The 440 PPI in the HTC Butterfly will definitely give more sharpness and clarity but only a cyborg can tell the difference between them.

The report also says that the LG Optimus G2 will enter the market during the first half of 2013. Hopefully LG does go for it early in 2013 because LG didn’t really make a dent in the mobile market in 2012.For LG’s sake

LG has announced the Optimus 4X HD in February but it took six long months for the device to become available. The availability in stores was so late that LG had already declared Optimus G, the successor for the 4X by then.

It remains to be seen how the competition will respond to this 5.5-inch 1080p mammoth smartphone considering most, if not all smartphone manufacturers churn out similar smartphones with massive full HD display panels. Samsung has the Galaxy S IV, Sony is testing the Yuga and as we mentioned earlier, HTC is working on the M7.
