Samsung introduced the AR Emoji feature with the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. This feature lets users create an animated avatar of themselves that can be shared on messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. AR Emoji could be used in multiple ways, but the most popular is with animated stickers that display the avatar with an emotion. Initially, there were about 18 stickers available, but now Samsung has doubled that number to 36.
The new stickers are a part of the camera update, which is available for download on the Galaxy S9 and S9+ from the Galaxy Apps store. Users should be able to see and use the new collection of stickers directly from the keyboard or the Gallery app. Not just that, Samsung mentioned in its post that it will adding 18 more expressions in the coming months, to bring the total number of stickers to 54.
Besides stickers, the AR Emoji can be used in different ways. You can use the front camera on the Galaxy S9 to record a video as your AR emoji and send it across to friends. The feature has the capability to map both your facial expressions as well as voice. You can even customize your AR Emoji by changing its hairstyle and clothing to best suit your current style.
