Samsung has long been rumored to be working on a new Galaxy J series smartphone. In line with that rumor, a new report comes in which claims to reveal a handful of details about the purported Galaxy J8 Plus.
Spotted on Geekbench by SlashLeaks, the purported device carries the model number SM-J805G. As per the listing, the Samsung smartphone will be powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, and 4GB of RAM. The device is said to run Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.
Last month, there was another Galaxy J8 smartphone spotted online but that featured the model number SM-J800FN, and is believed to be the lower variant of the smartphone. That one has been rumored to come with Exynos 7870 processor, and 3GB of RAM.
Meanwhile, while Samsung already has the premium smartphone segment covered, it is paying a lot of attention to the mid-range and low-range ones, which could possibly include the new Galaxy J series of smartphones. India especially is an important market for the company.
Samsung is reportedly geared up to launch India-focused smartphones across price points in the remaining part of 2018. According to Asim Warsi, Global Vice President, Samsung India, the company is focusing on multi-dimensional strategies to counter the growing competition, especially from the Chinese players.
Samsung has also partnered with telecom service providers Reliance Jio and Airtel in India for “LTE Carrier Aggregation” where spectrum across different bands merge into one single pipe, thus, giving users higher bandwidth, faster streaming and downloads making them the fastest smartphones on 4G networks in India.
