Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ prices in India slashed; now start from Rs 49,990

The new pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ is applicable on purchase via online and offline channels.

It’s been nearly a month since Samsung launched the 2018 flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ in India. Now, the company has slashed the prices of last year’s flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Launched at Rs 57,900, the Galaxy S8 had seen a price drop of Rs 4,000 to Rs 53,900 before the Galaxy S9 launch. Now, after the revision, the Galaxy S8 price has further been slashed to Rs 49,990.

Similarly, the Galaxy S8+ 64GB storage variant is now priced at Rs 53,990, whereas the 128GB storage variant will set you back by Rs 64,900. The revised pricing is now reflecting on Samsung’s online shop, and it is also applicable when buying from offline retail stores. However, on e-commerce sites like Flipkart and Paytm, the pricing is yet to change. In case of Amazon India, you can get the Galaxy S8 for as low as Rs 46,750.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were launched with Android 7.0 Nougat OS with a layer of Samsung’s custom UI on top, and the smartphones were recently updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. Just a couple of days back, Samsung also added GIF support to Always-On Display on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ specifications and features

In terms of specifications, the Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD resolution and 586ppi, whereas the Galaxy S8+ features a slightly larger 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD resolution and 531ppi.

Under the hood, both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are powered by Samsung’s Exynos 8890 octa-core SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. The Galaxy S8+ also has a variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage.

For photography, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ come with an 8-megapixel smart auto-focus front camera, and 12-megapixel dual-pixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture. Both the phones come with Always On display and IP68 water and dust resistance capabilities.

Fuelling the Galaxy S8 is a 3,000mAh battery, whereas the Galaxy S8+ gets a larger 3,500mAh battery. Both smartphones support fast charging and wireless fast charging. Connectivity options on the smartphones include dual-SIM card slots, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and GPS.
