As is tradition, Samsung is said to be working on an ‘active’ variant of the Galaxy S9. Dubbed Galaxy S9 Active, the smartphone’s specifications and features have surfaced online ahead of an official launch.
The first hint that the image is related to the Samsung Galaxy S9 Active is the model number mentioned. The image, shared by ReadyTricks, mentions the model number Samsung SM-G893. Now when we look back, last year’s Galaxy S8 Active came with the model number SM-G892, while the Galaxy S7 Active came with the model number SM-G891.
According to the leaked image, the upcoming Samsung smartphone will feature a 5.8-inch 2960×440 pixels resolution display. Under the hood will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. There will also be 64GB internal storage. For photography, the smartphone will be equipped with a 12-megapixel Dual Aperture camera at the back, and an 8-megapixel snapper up front.

Now these specifications are pretty the same as what you find on a standard Samsung Galaxy S9. But the one big differentiating factor will be the battery. Where the standard variant comes with a 3,000mAh battery, the Active variant is expected to boast a bigger 4,000mAh unit.
Another difference will no doubt be the overall build quality. The Active variants of Samsung’s smartphones are built to survive the outdoors. With the nature of this new leak, and the lack of official word from Samsung, we would advise you to take this leak with the proverbial pinch of salt.
