Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are all set to receive Google’s ARCore support which was announced with the launch of the smartphone at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona. Samsung took a while to introduce the augmented reality platform on its latest flagship smartphones, and now it is finally arriving after a gap of two months.

ARCore is essentially a tool and platform for developers where they will be able to create apps that will be using augmented reality for various tasks. ARCore is still only available on a handful of smartphones that previously included Pixel and Nexus phones and some select devices from Asus, LG, Huawei, Moto, and Sony. According to 9to5Google, the list has now been updated with the names of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.

After the launch of the ARCore support on Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, users will have to install the ARCore app from the Play Store along with any app that will use the SDK to try out the features.

Samsung has now also announced the introduction of two new color variants of the Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ smartphones in Sunrise Gold and Burgundy Red. These are an addition to the previously available Midnight Black, Titanium Gray, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple color variants. While the Burgundy Red variant will only be hitting the Korean and Chinese markets later this month, the Sunrise Gold variant will be coming to Australia, Chile, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam in June.

According to Samsung’s own description of the new colors in its blog, “The Sunrise Gold edition for Galaxy S9 and S9+ is Samsung’s first device to feature a satin gloss finish which wraps the smartphone in a tranquil glow and glimmer.” And, “The Burgundy Red edition is one of the deepest red colors available featuring restrained gloss for added density and a look that is contemporary and traditional – perfect for users who appreciate luxurious design.”
