There have been quite a few reports around Samsung developing a circular smartwatch. At the ongoing Tizen Developer Summit 2015 in Bangalore, Samsung has confirmed the smartwatch’s existence, said to be called Gear A, and also revealed some of its features as well, SamMobile reports.
Samsung says that the forthcoming Gear A smartwatch will have a rotating bezel that can be used for navigating through menus, checking recent apps, going through widgets, and notifications among others. Users will also be able to dismiss or snooze alarms, skip music tracks, accept or reject calls, and end active calls.
Samsung has also confirmed that the smartwatch will flaunt a 360360 pixels display, and run on Tizen 2.3.1 OS. As per previous rumors, the Gear A is expected to feature a 1.2GHz Exynos 3472 dual-core processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, and a 250mAh battery. Connectivity-wise, it will include built-in Wi-Fi (802.11n) and Bluetooth 4.1 support.
While Samsung hasn’t confirmed it, the Gear A smartwatch is expected to be unveiled at the Unpacked event on August 13 in New York. This is the same event, where the company plans on taking the wraps off the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
