Samsung released the Tizen 3.0 update for the Gear S3 last year, and while the update provided some new features, it also came with a bug that affected its battery performance. Following the update, there were some Gear S3 users who complained about not being able to charge the device up to 100 percent in one go.

As reported by SamMobile, the smartwatch was reported to only charge up to 90 percent, after which it would display an overheating warning, which required it to be disconnected from the charger. Now however, Samsung has provided a fix for the problem through another update.

The update is provided for both the Gear S3 Frontier and the Gear S3 Classic. They carry build numbers of R760XXU2CRG3 and R770XXU2CRG3 respectively. Both updates are 16MB in size and should be available for download through the Samsung Gear app on the smartphone. The option is available in the Settings tab under the About Gear section. Here users will have to click on Update Gear.

Most users should be getting the update as we speak. After updating, the Gear S3 should charge to 100 percent in one go. Samsung claims to have fixed the problem by improving on the battery charging algorithm. Besides that, the new update also claims to come with some system stability improvements.

In other news, Samsung is touted to unveil the Gear S4 or Galaxy Gear smartwatch alongside the Galaxy Note 9 in August. Recent reports have suggested that Samsung could ditch the Tizen operating system in favor of the Wear OS. The smartwatch is also reported to come with Bixby support, which will replace the S Voice assistant that is present on current Gear S3 models.
