Samsung to reportedly launch Galaxy S IV “behind enemy lines” on March 22

The Samsung Galaxy S series of smartphones have garnered the kind of following that was once exclusively reserved for iPhones. The Galaxy S IV and the iPhone 5S have been getting press coverage almost from the day the companies launched their predecessors. Now a report from Korea-based Asiae claims that Samsung will hold its next Mobile Unpacked event on March 22, in Apple’s backyard, the United States.

Earlier Samsung used to announce its flagship smartphone at MWC and the corresponding tablet at IFA but it changed that practice last year when it held a stand-alone Mobile Unpacked event in London to launch the Galaxy S III. The timing of the event also falls in line with earlier reports that indicated that the Galaxy S IV would start shipping in April.

The Galaxy S IV is expected to have a 4.99-inch full HD 1080p display with a pixel density of 440ppi. It is also said to run on the latest Exynos 5 Octa processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera. It is also rumored to sport the S-Pen stylus input, which till now has been exclusive to its Note series of devices and has proven to be very popular among users.
